TOYS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS


The project has primarily encouraged students to think about the importance of respecting differences and on the frailness of life. By creating their own toy/animal with disabilities they have developed a higher degree of empathy towards certain health issues and have become aware of the importance of discussing this specific topic.

The students are given the leftover cloth, various buttons, threads, needles and other materials needed for making rag toys.
Before making them they draw sketches on a white paper and develop ideas on the kind of toy they are going to make.
The students are given complete freedom in their expression.

The workshop has encouraged students to talk openly with people with disabilities and, to a certain extent, demystified the taboo factor of the topic. Raising awareness and discussing the topic makes the problems of people with disabilities or other health problems publically visible and the society we live in more tolerant towards the problem.
