The project is envisioned and realized through workshops of filming
a short feature film.
The film is based on a story which formed itself during the
first of the two workshops. The story follows a girl who has the need to
"come out of her wardrobe", but she doesn't want to do it alone, she
needs the support of her surrounding. She doesn't want to do it without
thought, she wants to come out in a pleasant environment, surrounded by support
and love.
The film was shot during the second workshop, in Varna
(Bulgaria). The film portrays a girl who, in her solitude and unrepresentable
ambiance, faces the challenge of coming out of the wardrobe. She enters and
exits the wardrobe, but is not pleased. She pushes and drags the wardrobe into
a public space. During the gruelling push, a passerby comes to her aid, making
it a lot easier for her. While they are pushing the wardrobe across the streets
of the city, other passerby join them and the closet becomes lighter and
lighter. Upon arriving at the desired destination, the girl enters the wardrobe
and from its darkness emerges joyfully to the support and cheers of all her
helpers. The company departs, but one of them remains and the story continues with
him facing "his wardrobe".
The film production demands group work adjusting to the
collective, which is the basic concept of this workshop. The filming alone
includes the physical effort of carrying an actual wardrobe up a staircase,
across streets and to a beach. During that phase all of the participants had to
cooperate and carry an equal amount of weight, in a public space, under the
watchful eyes of bystanders. The final production phase - picture and sound
editing, was not included in the workshop for technical reasons, but was done
by the participants of the workshop at the School of Fine Arts in Split.
